What fertilizer for your plants ?
Whether indoors or outdoors, in the ground or in a pot, all plants need nutrients to give the best of themselves and this inevitably involves the addition of fertilizer.
So, what do you need to know about fertilizers ? When should you fertilize your plants ? What is the average frequency ? And what type of fertilizer should be used ?
From a general point of view, all plants need, to flourish, light, water and nutrients necessary for the production of organic matter and therefore for their growth.
These nutrients are both chemical compounds such as nitrogen, or potassium for example, but also proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids.
These elements are assimilated by plants thanks to the action of all the micro-organisms contained in the soil, in other words thanks to all the microbial activity of the soil. From then on, a true symbiosis takes place between the plant and the fungi called mycorrhizae.
A virtuous exchange, favorable to both parties, takes place, one serving the other and vice versa. True nutrient pumps, mycorrhizae play a major role in the overall health of the plant.
Well nourished, the plant develops better, produces more and is therefore much better equipped to fight against diseases and other parasites on its own.
Fertilization begins after the winter rest period at the beginning of spring and continues depending on the varieties and temperatures until the end of October, approximately once a month. On the other hand, note that it is important to respect a period of vegetative rest in winter, a period during which fertilization should not be carried out.
It is also advisable to use a fertilizer adapted to the needs of your plants : fertilizer green plants, flowering plants, cacti, vegetable gardens, rose bushes, etc.
Generally, they are found in the form ofliquid fertilizer to be diluted, granules or sticks to be planted directly in the ground.
