Mini red Iresin

Red Iresin, or Iresine herbstii, is an ornamental plant native to South America, more precisely Brazil. It belongs to the Amaranthaceae family, a family of dicotyledonous plants that includes about 160 genera and 2400 species.

Physically, the Red Iresina is a perennial plant distinguished by its bright red foliage. It has an average height of 0.5 to 1 meter, with opposite, oval leaves, 5 to 8 cm long, and red to purple in color. The stems of the plant are also red, which contributes to the plant's overall attractive appearance. In summer, the Red Iresina produces small white flowers grouped in spikes, but these are often removed to encourage foliage development.

Red Iresina is an ideal plant to add a touch of colour to a garden, terrace or balcony. Its vibrant colour is particularly effective in brightening up dark corners. It is an easy plant to grow, preferring sunny or semi-shaded situations, and needs well-drained soil to thrive. In winter, it is best to bring it indoors, as it cannot tolerate temperatures below 10°C.
