How to make your own organic herbal teas ?

Comment faire vous-mĂȘme vos tisanes bio ? - La Green Touch

Herbal teas are very popular for their relaxing benefits, in the evening before bed, but also for their therapeutic virtues, especially in winter when many viruses are circulating. Drinking good herbal teas thus promotes a good immune system and guarantees you peaceful nights.

What plants to use?

Here is our non-exhaustive selection of the different varieties of plants that you can grow, then mix to make your herbal teas: chamomile, thyme, calendula,  parsley, nettle, hyssop, verbena, sage, mint, lemon balm, lime blossom, etc. There is something for everyone! Each of them has diverse and varied properties, which will allow you to fight against many ailments, especially in winter!

Plant picking

Favor picking in summer, when your plants have passed the milestone of their growth and are in good shape. Be sure to harvest them on a sunny day, after the morning dew, but before noon. This will preserve all their aromas! And avoid rainy days. For most plants, it is quite possible to pick the flowers as well as the leaves to use them in your herbal teas.

How to dry them?

First, clean them and remove the stems to keep only the flowers and leaves, then dry your picked plants on a tea towel. Then place the leaves on absorbent paper in a dish and cover them with another sheet. Place everything in your oven or microwave and heat for about twenty seconds. Open the door to evacuate the humidity inside for at least a minute then heat again for 20 seconds. You will then need to turn the two sheets of absorbent paper over and heat the plants one last time. Once removed from the oven or microwave, allow the plants to dry in a container until completely dried out. Once you have ensured that they are perfectly dry, you can then crumble them and store them in a closed jar.

It's time to make your infusion!

Boil water and mix plants that you want. In order to preserve the steam of the plants and all their benefits, remember to cover your teapot well during infusion. Let it infuse for no more than ten minutes to avoid any possible bitterness. You can then add a spoonful of honey to your herbal tea to give it a light sweet taste as well as all the benefits that honey is known for. It’s ready, all you have to do now is enjoy your delicious herbal tea from the garden!
