MARANTACEA | CALATHEA | WHITE STAR MAJESTICA
PURIFYINGÂ Â Â PETS FRIENDLY
| Indirect sun. Watering 1-2x per week. |
EXHIBITION
Just like most Calathea, and tropical green plants, the White Star needs light, without being exposed to the sun's rays, and humidity.
MAINTENANCE OF THE CALATHEA WHITE STAR
WATERING
You can let the potting soil dry. This corresponds to  roughly watering once a week.
We recommend adding liquid fertilizer once or twice a month.
CLEANING AND PRUNING THE CALATHEAÂ MAJESTICA
Mist your Calathea regularly is a preventive action against insects and spiders that could attack it. This also helps remove dust from the foliage, and thus promote photosynthesis.
You must also prune damaged leaves by cutting them at their base.
POTTING, CUTTINGS, DIVISION OF CALATHEA
The potting soil for indoor plants is perfectly suitable for all Calathea, although you can always aerate it by incorporating a little perlite or coconut fiber. To repot your plant you must take it out of its old pot and remove the old soil while limiting the breakage of rootsas much as possible. Then you have to cover the bottom of the new pot, a little larger than the old one, with pozzolan or clay balls, one or two centimeters potting soil and place your plant. Fill with your potting soil up to the surface of the pot and water.
If you don't have a pot big enough for your plant to need repotting, you can divide it by simply separating the plants and rhizomes, the small bulbs from which the roots emerge. Moreover, rhizomatic plants do not multiply by cuttings, too bad!
FREQUENT PROBLEMS
-
Yellow leaves.
If you have not forgotten to water your plant, and the soil is not completely dry, your plant has been watered too much. Space out your watering and remember not to let the bottom of the pot bathe in water.
-
The leaves curl or turn brown.
Your plant is thirsty! Water it slowly or bath-it for ten minutes, or until the leaves become smooth again.
