EXPOSITION

Le Calathea Makoyana est originaire des milieux tropicaux d'Amérique du Sud, il est donc habitué à des températures moyennes (entre 13°C et 25°C). Il ne doit pas être placé en plein soleil, mais peut tolèrer les espaces un peu plus sombres.

ARROSAGE 

Il est idéal pour les Calathea de maintenir le terreau humide, vous pouvez cependant le laisser sécher en surface et sur quelques centimètres. Cela correspond à un à deux arrosages par semaine. Vous pouvez toutes les deux semaines incorporer de l'engrais liquide à votre eau.

NETTOYAGE ET TAILLE DU CALATHEA MAKOYANA

Il est recommandé de vaporiser le Calathea plusieurs fois par semaine, voire quotidiennement, afin de nettoyer leur feuilles et repousser les insectes et araignées.

Si une des feuilles les plus anciennes sèche ou jaunit ne vous inquiétez pas, cela arrive. Vous pouvez la couper à la base.

REMPOTAGE, BOUTURAGE, DIVISION DU CALATHEA MAKOYANA

Le Calathea Makoyana n'a pas besoin d'un terreau spécifique, vous pouvez utiliser du terreau pour plante verte d'intérieur. Ainsi lorsque les feuilles les plus anciennes jaunissent, votre plante ne grandit plus ou lorsque ses racines sortent du fond du pot, vous pouvez rempoter votre Calathea. Pour cela munissez-vous d'un pot d'un diamètre supérieur de deux ou trois centimètres et transvaser votre plante! N'oubliez pas de gratter la terre au niveau des racines afin qu'elle soit bien remplacée par votre terreau neuf.

Les Calathea ne se bouturent pas, cependant vous pouvez le diviser lors du rempotage.

PROBLEMES FREQUENTS

  • Feuilles jaunes.

Les feuilles jaunes peuvent être causées par de nombreux facteurs, cependant la cause la plus fréquente est un excès d'arrosage, à moins que vous n'ayez tendance à oublier d'arroser votre plante. Cela peut aussi être naturel, votre plante se sépare de ses anciennes feuilles. Vous pouvez alors la rempoter.

  • Les feuilles s’enroulent ou deviennent marron.

Veillez bien à arroser lorsque le terreau sèche en surface. N'oubliez pas non plus de placer votre Calathea dans un environnement pas trop sec.
